Chapter 3.The white roses

The next morning arrived quietly, almost deceptively

Soft sunlight slipped through the curtains and spilled across Reyanshi’s room, painting everything in a warm, golden glow. The faint morning breeze stirred the curtains near the window, carrying with it the fresh scent of the garden outside.

The bathroom door opened.Reyanshi stepped out, wrapped securely in a white towel, her damp hair falling over her shoulders. Another towel rested in her hands as she gently rubbed it through her hair, trying to squeeze out the remaining droplets.

A shaft of sunlight entered through the window and cast a delicate golden silhouette across the floor and the edge of her bed, making the room look almost peaceful.

Almost.

Her eyes wandered around the room lazily—until they stopped.

White roses.

A bouquet of them sat neatly on her bed.

Reyanshi froze.

Her brows slowly drew together in confusion.

What...?

She hadn't left any flowers there.

Keeping the towel around herself secure, she walked towards the bed, her bare feet making almost no sound against the floor. She tossed the towel she had been using for her hair onto the bed and carefully picked up the bouquet.

White roses.

Fresh.

Beautiful.

And unmistakably placed there deliberately.

She brought them closer and inhaled their delicate fragrance.

For a brief second, a tiny smile appeared on her lips.

Then her eyes caught something tucked beside the bouquet.

A note.

Her smile disappeared.

Slowly, Reyanshi pulled the folded piece of paper from beneath the flowers. Her fingers suddenly felt strangely cold.

She unfolded it.

Her eyes moved across the words.

Flowers for the most beautiful girl who somehow became my world without ever knowing.Welcome back… and soon, in my life.Yours.

For several seconds, she simply stared.

The room suddenly felt too quiet.

Her heartbeat quickened as the meaning settled in.

Her fingers tightened around the note, crumpling its edge slightly.

“No...” she whispered.

Her gaze darted towards the door.

Then the windows.

Then the balcony.

A strange uneasiness crawled beneath her skin.

No. This can't be.

Her mind immediately went to the one person she desperately didn't want it to.

“He came here too?”

Her voice barely made it past her lips.

She shook her head quickly, as though refusing to allow the thought to become real.

“No. God...”

She looked around her room again.

Nothing.

Everything appeared exactly as it should.

Yet somehow, the sight of those roses made the familiar room feel completely different.

Someone had entered.

Someone had left a message.

And whoever it was wanted her to know that they could reach her.

Before she could think any further—

Ding!

Her phone rang with a notification.

Reyanshi nearly jumped.

She immediately turned towards the bedside table.

Her eyes narrowed.

With an uneasy feeling settling in her stomach, she picked up the phone and opened the notification.

One message.

From an unknown number.

Her eyes scanned the screen.

You look more cute when you're stressed, but I don't like seeing you stressed. So don't trouble your little brain.

Reyanshi's eyes widened.

Before she could even process the first message, another notification appeared.

And change before you catch a cold.

Her mouth fell slightly open.

“What the—”

Her eyes immediately travelled around the room.

The wardrobe.

The curtains.

The balcony.

The door.

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing

She pulled the phone closer, staring at the messages as if they might somehow reveal who was behind them.

“How does he even know what I'm doing?”

Her voice came out in a frustrated whisper.

A sudden knock made her flinch.

“Ma'am?”

Reyanshi hurriedly locked her phone.

“Yes?”

“Your ma is calling you for breakfast.”

“Oh.”

She cleared her throat, trying desperately to sound normal.

“Yeah, I'm coming.”

“Okay, ma'am.”

The maid left.

The door clicked shut.

Reyanshi remained frozen for another two seconds.

Then—

“Ahhh!”

She groaned, dragging one hand through her damp hair.

“What is happening?”

She glanced at the bouquet again.

Those innocent-looking white roses suddenly seemed less like flowers and more like a warning she couldn't decipher.

She grabbed the note and placed it beneath the bouquet, determined not to look at it again.

Then she marched towards her wardrobe.

“Breakfast first. Panic later.”

She opened the wardrobe and began searching for something comfortable.

After a few moments, she settled on a simple red short kurti paired with loose, baggy jeans. Nothing extravagant. Just comfortable enough for a family breakfast.

She quickly changed, then stood before the mirror.

Her damp hair was still slightly wet, so she gathered it into a loose braid, allowing a few strands to fall naturally around her face.

She looked at herself in the mirror.

For a moment, she tried to convince herself that she was imagining things.

Maybe the roses were simply a coincidence.

Maybe the messages were some ridiculous prank.

Maybe—

Her eyes shifted towards the bed.

The white roses stared back at her.

Reyanshi's expression fell.

“No coincidence,” she muttered.

She picked up her phone, slipped it into her pocket, and took one final glance around the room.

Everything was silent.

Normal.

Yet the unsettling feeling refused to leave.

With a frustrated sigh, she opened the door and stepped into the hallway.

She had no idea what awaited her downstairs.

But one thing was becoming painfully clear—

Someone had entered her quiet little world.

And he had no intention of remaining a stranger.
